BELGIUM
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM
Finally, after being deployed and away from my husband for 6 months I am home! In celebration of my homecoming we decided to do a little 3 day weekend trip to Amsterdam and then to Belgium. We started with driving 6 hours to Amsterdam and then the following morning we drove about 2 hours to Belgium! Overall we wanted this trip to be productive but also short and sweet and I think we nailed it! A "short" 6 hour drive north involved visiting 2 different countries, a private car tour, a private paint & sip night, Amsterdam canal tour, and a lot of other little things in between to include eating and shopping.
Brussels, Belgium was our favorite part about our weekend trip. However, we did have a lot more planned here and spent more time sightseeing around the city. One of the things we did was a private car tour of Brussels in an antique 2CV! (The bright yellow car). Our host, Nils, drove us all around Brussels and not only taught us some of the history of the city but also gave us SO many recommendations for things to do and see! This tour was absolutely our FAVORITE part of our Brussels trip and I would recommend it to anyone seeing Belgium for the first time. The next day we decided our very last visit would be to see the "picture famous" Atomium. (The big shiny silver building). Everything about Belgium to include the chocolate, the beer, the tours, the history, the amazing architecture and the busy/crazy parking was such an amazing experience and we definitely want to go back!
